    • Season the avocado: Add a little salt, pepper, and lemon juice to taste. You can also add other seasonings like chili powder or cumin for an extra flavor boost.

    I love starting with a simple white plate. It just makes me so hopeful that it's going to be simple to make and beautiful to present.

    I use sourdough bread, which is my preference, as well as Earth Balance Vegan Butter... But choose your bread and butter preference, as any option works.

    Just make sure that you're being super generous with your knife spreading the butter! It is absolutely delicious and healthy for you too.

    How do you make bread last longer?

    I freeze my bread. But first, separate it out into individual freezer bags with about four slices in each bag. That way you expose less air to fewer slices at a time as you use the bread ... And every slice is always super fresh as if baked or bought that day.

    And can I just say... Is there anything that smells better than fresh buttered bread toasting in the oven? Yummy…!

    How do you keep toasted bread crispy?

    When your toast is done... Bring the pan out of the oven and let the toast continue to rest on the pan for just a minute or two before you plate it and add your toppings. This will ensure that your toast stays crispy.

    Is guacamole on toast the same as avocado on toast?

    No… Guacamole on toast is not the same as avocado on toast. Guacamole is a dip made from mashed avocado, onion, tomato, and spices. It can be used as a spread for toast, but it will be a bit thinner than avocado slices.

    I prefer to use a fresh avocado, when available. Just remove the pit, scoop out the avocado, mash, and spread it on your bread.

    But today, I had guacamole in my refrigerator and that's fine too... And a great timesaver as well!

    Spread the avocado or guacamole with your knife generously. Just like with the butter, it's super good ... And super healthy for you too!

    How can you toast bread without a toaster?

    If you don't have a toaster, you can toast bread in the oven. You can also toast bread over an open flame on the stovetop. Hold the bread with tongs and hold it close to the flame, flipping it occasionally, until it's evenly toasted.

    Toasting your bread in the oven...

    I toast my bread at 350 degrees on the regular bake cycle in the oven on a baking sheet pan. My bread comes out of my freezer. I butter the frozen slices… And put them right into the oven.

    Then, set the oven to 350 degrees…  And by the time the oven has heated to its’ full 350 degrees (or a few minutes more as needed), my toast has slowly toasted to the perfect consistency that I like. Timing varies as per the thickness of the bread slice and/or type of bread.

    What Is The Best Avocado Toast Seasoning?

    The best avocado toast seasoning is easy to make with just a few simple ingredients. A classic favorite is simply salt, pepper, and lemon juice. But you can also get creative with other avocado toast seasoning ingredients like chili powder or cumin. It all depends on your personal preference. There are many different ways you can season avocado toast. The best way to find out what you like is to experiment until you find the perfect combination for you.

    What spices go well with avocado?

    To season an avocado, add a little salt, pepper, and lemon juice to taste. You can also add other seasonings like chili powder or cumin for an extra flavor boost.

    And now for the “secret sauce”… 

    You want to sprinkle on an Everything But The Bagel Seasoning. 

    What is the best everything bagel seasoning?

    Some of the best everything bagel seasoning blends include sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion flakes, garlic flakes, and salt. You can find these spices pre-mixed at your local grocery store or online.

    Or you can make your own blend using these same ingredients. Then, you can experiment with the amount of salt you use and which flavors you want to feature more or less as per your preference.

    So, what brand do I recommend?

    There are several brands of this seasoning mixture. But I find that a lot of them are just too salty for my taste. Here are my two favorites:

    Salt vs No Salt Buying Decisions...

    As I said, some brands are way too salty for me. If you are trying a new brand and not sure how salty the mix is... First, check the nutritional chart on the label for how much sodium each serving has.

    Then, also check the ingredients list. The ingredients are usually listed in order of quantity used. So, if salt is one of the first ingredients listed, expect it to be on the high end of the salty taste test. If salt is further down the list or even listed last, you can expect a less salty taste.

    What is everything bagel seasoning made of?

    A combination of the spices and ingredients usually found on an “Everything Bagel”... Hence the name!

    Let’s break down the spices... Poppy seeds, toasted sesame seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt (unless you use my recommended salt-free option ➾ Everything Bagel Crunch by The Spice Hunter and add salt to taste, as needed).

    Yes... It is a mixture of spices you probably already have in your pantry. But, having the pre-mixed seasoning ready to go for a “quick shake” is super convenient!

    And we are all about streamlining our meal prep, right?

    When you can easily grab the same option in a pre-mixed form, the odds are ever in your favor that you will make a simple savory breakfast each morning... Saving you time and money while still checking the box "yes" for eating healthy every day. Don't make it harder than it should be!

    This seasoning should be a staple in your pantry! It’s like putting “adult sprinkles” on anything you add it to... And takes your avocado toast to the next level! 

    If you use a salt-free mix, add salt, as needed...

    My favorite pick is Trader Joe’s Himalayan Pink Salt Crystals... Even a pinch of flaky sea salt will explode the flavors of your avocado toast.

    • Use a salt-free version of Everything But The Bagel Seasoning for a low-sodium option. Spice Hunter is my favorite option with their Everything Bagel Crunch (No Salt). Then, I add a pinch of salt to my taste!
    • When you first bring the toast out of the oven nice and hot, be sure to let the toast "rest" on the pan on the stovetop for a few minutes prior to plating and adding the toppings. This will prevent your toast from "sweating" onto your plate... Nobody likes soggy toast!
