    T.I.M.E. BOOK REVIEW

Peter Heller became a T.I.M.E. Favorite Author with his previous book, The River. As a reader, I loved his skill as an author in literally putting me right in the wilderness in the midst of the adventure. With each page, I could see it, feel it... even smell it! So thrilling!

With his latest book, The Guide, you will continue to appreciate the writing that often teeters between thriller and literary fiction. It is clear that the author is well-versed on his subject matter and the setting of his stories... And writes with a poet's touch in describing the wilderness experience.

In his earlier book, the "threat" was fast and furious... A strong tangible presence in full sight. As if a pack of wild animals were constantly surrounding you and biting at your heels on the run.

With The Guide, the "threat" is out of sight... With the suspense building as clues begin to add up to reveal all is not as it seems.

Although The River continues to be my favorite, I acknowledge that it was certainly a hard act to follow... And Peter Heller does so with ease. Largely in part to his conspiracy theory storyline, the adventure remains compelling… Integrating the right touch of modern circumstances with just enough of a "what if" undertow.

I can't wait to see what he has in store for us next... ✨😎✨

    PUBLISHER BOOK SYNOPSIS

The best-selling author of The River returns with a heart-racing thriller about a young man who is hired by an elite fishing lodge in Colorado, where he uncovers a plot of shocking menace amid the natural beauty of sun-drenched streams and forests...

Kingfisher Lodge, nestled in a canyon on a mile and a half of the most pristine river water on the planet, is known by locals as "Billionaire's Mile" and is locked behind a heavy gate.

Sandwiched between barbed wire and a meadow with a sign that reads "Don't Get Shot!" the resort boasts boutique fishing at its finest. Safe from viruses that have plagued America for years, Kingfisher offers a respite for wealthy clients.

Now it also promises a second chance for Jack, a return to normalcy after a young life filled with loss. When he is assigned to guide a well-known singer, his only job is to rig her line, carry her gear, and steer her to the best trout he can find.

But then a human scream pierces the night, and Jack soon realizes that this idyllic fishing lodge may be merely a cover for a far more sinister operation...

    BOOK QUOTE

“More than that, he thought she had a certain bravery he rarely encountered and couldn't define: it was something to do with a willingness to look beyond the surface of things, into their heart, and he wondered if that was an essential part of being an artist. It was more than just curiosity, it seemed to him she was restless for truth somehow..." — The Guide by Peter Heller
